The Tower family is an early American family that has been farming for over 200 years. In 1815, Peter Tower, a carpenter by trade, made his way from Massachusetts to New York in a two-horse wagon. He settled in the Town of Porter and purchased 100 acres. The original farm was located on the northwest corner of what is now Youngstown-Lockport and Creek Roads.

Peter's father, Stephen Tower (born 24 May 1755 Massachusetts, died 25 April 1826 Massachusetts) and his grandfather, also named Peter (born 19 January 1729 Massachusetts, died 4 August 1814 Massachusetts), both fought for American Independence in the American Revolutionary War.
David Tower is the sixth generation to continue the tradition of farming, in the Town of Porter.
